All Emory & Henry athletic activities were cancelled yesterday due to an outbreak of COVID-19 cases.

With the return of athletes to campus just over a week ago, there has been a surge in the amount of Covid cases on campus. According to the E&H COVID-19 Dashboard there are 13 reported cases of Emory students that have tested positive for the virus. A total of 22 students are either in quarantine or isolation on campus.

Athletic Director, Anne Crutchfield, sent an email to coaches that said, “Student-athletes should remain in their assigned (living) areas unless they are going to class or the cafeteria. Gathering in groups, leaving campus to eat out must subside until we can coordinate testing efforts next week.”

Student-athletes have been selected at random for tests being administered this week. A COVID-19 task force is meeting today to discuss the next steps.

“I don’t want to get it (COVID-19) but I want to play ball,” said junior on the softball team Nicole Cox, “We’re just going to have to find a way to co-exist if we want this to work in the spring.”
