The van Vlissingen Center for Career and Professional Development at Emory and Henry College announced a partnership with American Express to better serve the center’s many student services.

Lee Svete, director of The van Vlissingen Center, says the primary goal for this new connection is to provide internships and, later on, full-time employment.

Two new opportunities will be offered in the summer of 2022, a Product & Innovation internship and an Operations Associate internship. These internships range from New York to Utah, and will be in-person. Svete stated that American Express will pay for interns’ housing, and students have until Nov. 14 to apply.

Svete stated that these internships are good opportunities for students interested in or majoring in sales, marketing, engineering science, and business, as American Express’s current interests align with those programs.

“My goal is to get students more excited about career opportunities,” Svete said. “I want to bring in household brand names that students and their families recognize. I want students to dream big here.”
