Home is where the heart is. And for Emory & Henry College Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach Cody Skinner, that’s exactly why he decided to come to E&H.
Skinner of Akron, Ohio says that E&H reminded him so much of where he attended college. “I came down here on my interview, and I fell in love with the campus the minute I saw it. It reminded me where I went to school just more mountainous compared to the flat farmland where I attended school.”
Skinner also fell in love with the small campus environment and the great faculty that works at E&H. “It was a perfect fit for me at the right time,” Skinner added.
Skinner attended Wilmington College and completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree in health promotions in 2013. There Skinner was a four-year letterwinner as well as a four-time Ohio Athletic Conference finalist in the 100 and 200- yard breaststroke and the 500-yard freestyle. Skinner started swimming competitively at age six.
By the time Skinner was in middle school, he competed on a U.S. swim team. When he got to high school, Skinner said, “ I fell in love with swimming and realized that this could lead to a career in coaching or career swimming at the next level.
Obviously for me it lead to both.” Skinner is wrapping up his second season as the Wasps head coach. The Men’s and Women’s teams will compete for the ODAC championship on February 9th -11th in Greensboro North Carolina.
