After 12 and a half years as an executive director of marketing and communications at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio, Jennifer Pearce is looking forward to her new position as Vice President of Marketing at Emory & Henry College.
E&H first caught Pearce’s eye when a search firm sent her the job description and she recognized the location.
She said, “I’ve traveled the area with family and friends and always thought it would be awesome to live in this region. In addition, E&H had many similarities to my employer and alma mater that I could relate to such as being affiliated with the United Methodist Church, being super historic, offering an integrated liberal arts education, and being innovative with new ideas to help redefine the future of higher education.”
Pearce’s academic studies and experiences “set the stage” for her career in marketing. Pearce was a double major in Public Relations and Speech Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Business along with four different internships.
She said, “I learned more about advertising, social media, marketing, management, human resources, budgeting, and leadership as I took on new roles and explored new companies.”
Pearce stayed highly involved with her college radio station, TV station and newspaper, and continues her involvement in those areas at E&H.
Pearce and her team have been busy on the media relations and social media fronts, prepping a magazine, getting ready to launch a new website, and running the college radio station 90.7 WEHC.
“We would love to work with more students in the future and encourage them to reach out to us,” Pearce said. “Future work entails assisting admissions and advancement with their communications efforts to meet their goals; tightening up our brand messaging; reaching out into new markets; promoting our new programs, student and academic support services, and programs such as the Ampersand Center and all it entails.”
Pearce says she is looking forward to developing a strategic plan to prepare for growth and a sustainable future in the marketplace at Emory & Henry College.
