The Emory & Henry Women’s Cross Country team finished out there season strong at the NCAA Division III South/Southeastern Regional Championship in Newport News, Virginia.

The Wasps started the race but weren’t able to put up a team score because there were only four ladies able to run.

In the last meet of the year, the Wasps were able to put up some impressive scores lead by Freshman Alette McGuire who was able to finish 102 in the race individually and completed the 6K or 3.73 mile course in a time of 24:19.

Sophomore Erica Grupp finished the course in a time of 24:45 and finished second for Emory & Henry.

Junior McKenna Tankersley was the their Wasps to finish with a time of 27:18.

Lastly, Sophomore Maddie Copenhaver was the fourth Wasps to finish and she stopped the clock at 29:02.

Overall, Trinity University in Texas was able to take home the top score at the tournament.

The Wasps will now look to their spring season and look to have some of their runners on the track team as well. The Women’s Cross Country team doesn’t have any seniors they are saying goodbye to so they look to keep the team chemistry up and look for another good season.

Coach Ian Layne will now be in his third season with the Wasps as he continues to strengthen his relationship with his runners
