Men’s Cross Country Finish Season

The Men’s Cross Country team ended the 2017 season on Saturday.

The Wasps competed at the Division III regional championships this past Saturday in Newport News, Virginia.

The Wasps would be led by none other than the Junior Austin Tolbert with a time of 26:29 and placed 77th overall in the competition. The other junior Zane Moran ran a time of 28:32.

The Seniors running there last ever race, had a pretty good last race. Buck Kirtland ran a 28:04 on the day, followed by Michael LoGrande who ran a time of 28:37.

Sophomore Colt Pierce ran a 32:24 on the day.

Host Christopher Newport won the regional title, placing three runners in the top five, including the individual champion. Rhodes College placed second on the day, followed by Emory University.

The Wasps had a great year, they started the year picked
8th in the ODAC, the Wasps would finish the year at 7th.

Austin Tolbert broke two school records, and won the runner of the week award given by the ODAC Conference.

The Wasps will have three men leaving, but still will look very solid on the trails next season. After season number two coach Layne has to be excited for what is to come next season for the Wasps. Having a solid runner like Austin Tolbert coming back, and adding some fresh new faces to the roster!
