Emory’s own senior outside hitter Ali Singleton has been awarded the merit of being placed in the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Third Team. This honor was awarded to her this past weekend following the end of the ODAC 2017 Tournament last Saturday afternoon.
However, it must be noted that this is not Ali’s first recognition. She was awarded the achievement last year in ODAC’s 2016 Second Team after ending the season with a grand tally of 262 kills with an average hitting percentage of 181. This year she managed to add 252 digs, 16 service aces, and 25 blocks in the year which is a great achievement to say the least.
Furthermore, on the statistical front, Singleton man
aged to record 13 games with double-digit kills, 11 with double-digit digs, and seven double-doubles over the course of the year. This peaked with two tournament highs when she pulled off 16 kills against Brevard College on September the 16th, and 16 digs against Roanoke College on September the 13th.
Considering these stats and her efforts throughout the season, despite E & H only posting a 7-21 overall record throughout the season (finishing eighth), this makes her naming in the All-ODAC Third Team all the more impressive and commendable. Her back to back roster picks have cemented her name in the Emory Hall of Fame for the past two seasons, and with it being her final year at college it gives her a great deal of pride and achievement to take into her future and adult life.
