The Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball team has acquired two new faces to the coaching staff, Coach Matt Galloway and Ronrico White.

When asked the new assistant duo said their philosophy as coaches are to “be the hardest working and the best executing team both on and off the court.”

Coach White says “my philosophy is putting players first, players need to know that we care about them outside of basketball so you can gain a relationship that is going to last.”

Both coaches know about hard work, these player turned coaches both played Division 1 basketball, Virginia Tech (Galloway) and the University of Tennessee Chattanooga (White).

These former players have high hopes for their new players, “our goal is to win an ODAC championship but there’s going to be adversity and there’s going to be a learning curve.” says Galloway.

Galloway who graduated recently said, “we seemed to have found our calling.” “I was born into the game of basketball, so this is all I’ve ever known, and I’ve run into some positive role models on the way, they’ve helped me on my path, so I’d like to do the same for my players” says White.

The Emory and Henry Wasps will take the court for their first game of the season next Wednesday at Sewanee, and coach White says “we have been taking it day by day since the beginning of the fall preparing for this moment, and I know they’ll be mentally and physically ready, then it’ll be time to hit the floor.”

The new additions to the Wasp Basketball family will be coaching alongside head coach Wilson this season with high expectation for the men on the court.
