Last Saturday, Emory & Henry’s Women’s Cross Country team competed in the ODAC championship race. This race was a six kilometer race and was in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the Virginia Wesleyan Athletic Complex. The Wasps finished 8th overall which was the second straight year that E&H has finished 8th.
Freshman Alette McGuire ran another record setting race by beating her own record with 23:20 and finished 21st overall. Sophomore Erica Grupp also came out with a very impressive time of 24:23 and placed 34th.
The two veteran juniors on the team, Kelly Light and McKenna Tankersley, finished with times of 26:04 and 28:29 and finished 58th and 69th respectively. Sophomore Maddie Copenhaver was right behind Tankersley finishing 71st with a time of 28:55. Junior Annie Kate Leinius ran a time of 32:32 and finished 91th respectfully.
Washington and Lee won the overall championship and had six runners in the top fourteen. Emory and Henry will conclude their season at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Championship on Saturday November 11th at Christopher Newport University.
