The Men’s Cross Country team placed in 7th place at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday. The men ran a strong race. Junior Austin Tolbert broke a school record and finished 17th overall. Austin ran a solid 25:52 on the day placing tenth overall in the competition. Tolbert became the second ever Wasp to have the honor of becoming an second team all conference runner.
Senior Buck Kirtland ran a good 27:36 on the day and finished 42nd. The other senior, Michael LoGrande, ran a solid 27:55 and placed 47th. Placing right behind Michael was the junior Zane Moran who took 48th overall in the competition running a 27:56. Sophomore Colt Pierce ran a 34:02 and placed 92nd, while senior Caleb Simpson finished 94th running a 34:59.
Washington and Lee won their third-straight championship, having four runners in the top six. Bridgwater college finished in second, while Lynchburg College took third place.
Things are looking very promising for the second year head coach Ian Layne and his Wasps. With Austin Tolbert running his best times coming into the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Championship on Saturday, November 11.
The Wasps will look to run their best times at this meet held at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va.
