Women’s Golf Wins First Tournament in Program History

The Emory & Henry Women’s Golf team closed out their fall season on Saturday, competing and winning the Emory & Henry Fall Classic for their first ever tournament win. The format was played on an 18 hole course in Abingdon, Virginia, in a Glenrochie Country Club.

Two Wasps were in the top four, led by sophomore Ashley Underwood who finished as runner up. Underwood would lead the team, shooting +29 (101) to take second overall and was then followed by first-year Sierra Giramma who finished with 110 (+38) to finish fourth. Giramma also earned honors of being the most improved from SVU’s Knights Classic.

First year Chandler Thomas placed sixth overall with a score of 122, while junior Laura Mister finished eighth, with a score of 133.

Southern Virginia University’s Bailey Rusick would win the tournament by a score of 94 (+22). The Wasps as a team would win the event with a final score of 466 (+178) over Hollins University (525; +237) and Sweet Briar College (615; +327).
