After a week off, the Emory & Henry Women’s Cross-Country team traveled to Barry University to participate in their race. Out of a field of 23 teams, the Wasps came in 14th place.
The Wasps finished with a total time of 2:26:08.60, and an average time of 29:13.72. Leading the way for the Wasps was freshman Alette McGuire. She finished in 22nd place, and with a time of 24:55. The second Wasp to finish was sophomore Erica Grupp, she finished in 47th place with a time of 25:57. The next Wasps to finish was junior Kelly Light, she finished with a time of 28:42, and finished in 108th place. Sophomore Maddie Copenhaver was the fourth Wasp to finish the race, as she clocked a time of 30:22, and finished in 139th place. The final Wasp to cross the finish line was junior Anna Kate Leinus, as she had a time of 36:10, and finished in 174th place.
The next race for the Wasps will not be for a while. They will have a two week break, as they will travel to Virginia Beach to compete in the ODAC championship, hosted by Virginia Wesleyan. This year, the Wasps were selected to finish 8th in the ODAC in the preseason poll, however, they look to overcome this in the ODAC championships.
