Despite E&H’s best efforts, they faltered yet again with two back-to-back losses over the past week. It began with a home game against Guildford Quakers, and ended with a loss to Randolph College.
On October 11, E&H hoped to end their five-game losing streak against the Guildford Quakers. The Wasps managed to get on the board at the twelve mark as senior forward Jordan Couch darted down the left side, cut in towards the goal, and slotted the ball past the keeper. Just fifteen seconds later, the Quakers equalized on an unassisted goal by Rick Aguilar. In the 28th minute, Omar Solis finished a perfect pass by A.J. Hawkins inside the six-yard box for what would prove to be the match-winner.
However, this pain would not cease anytime soon as E&H succumbed to Randolph College on the following Saturday one goal to nil. It took merely twenty-eight minutes for Travis Brown to capitalize on a rebound off the crossbar and slot it home for the first and only goal of the match, which send E&H into the gutters for the fifth time in just eleven days. Campbell Hancock described this as, “a terrible run of form for the boys, but I’m sure we’ll bounce back!”
They will play Hiwassee at home on Monday, October 16 at 5:30pm. We shall see if the poor form continues or whether they will manage to turn things around in the near future.
