The E&H Women’s Cross country team competed in two cross country meets in the past two weeks. On Sep. 30 the Wasps traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina for the Greensboro Invitational. Following this race, the team then traveled to Tallulah Falls, Georgia for the Piedmont Invitational on Oct. 7. While the Wasps ran well both times, in Greensboro, the team was able to post a score due to two of their runners being inactive.
On Sep. 30 the women were able to score individually since they weren’t able to post a team score and they were lead by Freshman Alette McGuire who posted a time of 20:05. She also finished fifth in the eld of 88 of division I,II, and III runners. Junior Kelly Light finished second for the wasps and seventh in divi- sion III with a time of 23:17. Sophomore Madeline Copenhaver was 18th in division III and posted a time of 25:24. Junior Annie Kate Leinus rounded out the wasps and finished with a time of 29:27.
The Wasps then traveled to Georgia and were able to post a team score of 5th out of of 9 teams. Again, McGuire posted a new Emory and Henry record for a 6K time of 23:51 and finished fifth out of 76. Sophomore Erica Grupp finished 17th in the eld and posted a time of 25:41. Light finished third for the wasps and 36 in the eld and ran to a time of 28:30. Copenhaver crossed the line at the time of 30:13 and Leinius with a time of 36:58. Emory & Henry will now travel to Mount Berry, Georgia and compete in the Berry Invitational on Oct. 14.
