The Emory & Henry Men’s Cross Country team led by second year head coach, Ian Layne competed in the Greensboro Invitational on Saturday September 30th. After a three week hiatus the Wasps were back on the trail ready to run after the long exhuberating break.
After not seeing competition for the first time in three weeks the Wasps did exceptionally well. The Wasps would finish in third place out of six total teams.
The Wasps were led by Junior Austin Tolbert, who would run a 27:42 on the day. Austin would place 2nd over- all in the division III race and 15th overall in competition.
Senior Buck Kirtland would place 4th in the divi- sion III race with a time of 28:47. The senior Michael LoGrande and Junior Colt Pierce would finish 21st and 22nd with a time of 32:59.
The Wasps would be back in action this past Saturday October 7, this time at the Piedmont Cross Country Invitational. The Wasps would place 4th out of 10 teams in the competition.
Once again the Wasps would be led by the Junior Austin Tolbert. Tolbert would take ninth on the day with a time of 27:56. Right behind him would be the Junior Zane Moran who would place 19th on the day with a time of 29:17. Buck Kirtland would run a 30:30 to finish 29th in the competition.
Also because of Austin Tolbert’s time on Saturday he would win the ODAC Men’s Cross Country Runner Of The Week Award.
Next up on the schedule for the Wasps is the Berry Invitational. The race will be back in Georgia on October 14th at 10 A.M.
