The Emory & Henry Lady Wasps would travel to Harrisonburg, Virginia last Saturday and Sunday, to compete in the Bridgewater Fall Invitational.
The tournament hosted by Bridgewater College, would be a promising day for the Wasps. Sophomore Ashley Underwood, would lead Emory & Henry on Saturday with a score of 98 (+26). Followed by Freshman Sierra Giramma, who would shoot a 102 (+30) on the day. Freshman Chandler Thomas, would also have a good outing on Saturday, scoring a 113
(+41). The Wasps would finish in 8th place on the day with a team score of 446.
Leading the way after day one would be, the Bridgewater Eagles, with a team score of 319 (+31) on the day. Bridgewater would be led by defending Division three National Champion, Christina Herbert, who shot an even par 72 on the day.
On day two the Lady Wasps would try to gain ground on the Bridgewater Eagles. Sophomore Ashley Underwood, would lead the way for the Wasps once again on day two. Underwood would post her collegiate-best round, Underwood would shoot a 93 (+21) on the day.
Freshman Chandler Thomas shot a 110 (+38) on the day. Despite great team play on Sunday the Wasps would finish in 8th place in the tournament.
The Wasps finished in 8th place out of 13 teams in the tournament. It is safe to say after two weeks of having a Women’s golf team they are in very great shape with players!
Up next for the Lady Wasps: The Wasps will travel to Vista Links Golf Course on Saturday, October 14, to compete in a one day competition. The tournament will be hosted by, Southern Virginia University.
