The Emory & Henry volleyball team dug up two wins this past week. E&H was victorious this past Tuesday September 5, against Ferrum College, winning the game 3-0.

Head Coach Devyn Bayes stated, “I feel like we really found our rhythm and played together on Tuesday.”

Sophomore libero Lauren Coolidge had a remarkable 23 digs.  E&H was also victorious this past Saturday against Elizabeth City State, winning 3-0.

A new player has stepped up for the team. Rebecca Morehouse has helped the volleyball team out at the net by blocking. Some returning players are keeping E&H on pace. Ali Singleton and Tori Holmberg are bringing consistency to the team.

“Sam McCauley is taking leadership with the plays and doing a good job setting up our own shots as the sole setter”, says Bayes.

The volleyball team also fell short not once, but twice this past Sunday. E&H lost to Greensboro College 3-0. Holmberg and Singleton combined for an outstanding 21 kills.

After that match E&H lost a heartbreaker in 5 sets to Huntingdon College. When asked how Coach Bayes plays a part in the team’s success, Bayes stated, “I feel like I help the team out by setting goals. Every practice and everyday we go over our goals how we are progressing towards them.”

E&H will play its first conference game at home this Wednesday against Roanoke College. The volleyball team will also have two home games this Saturday and one on Sunday.
