This past Saturday, September 9th, the Emory & Henry Mens Cross Country team traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina for the Royals Twilight meet. The Wasps were looking to place fairly high and prove they can compete with a mostly DII field. Before the season Emory & Henry was picked to finish 8th in the Old Dominio Athletic Conference (ODAC.) It was another historic day for the team, while Junior Austin Tolbert finished by setting another personal record finishing the 5K with a time of (16:02.)
The team also competed well compared the rest of the field, Junior Zane Moran finished second for the Wasps coming in at (16:24) and Senior Buck Kirtland ran across the line at (16:41.) Additionally, Senior Michael LoGrande finished 31st with a time of (16:56). Finally, Senior Caleb Simpson finished the course with an average of (6:13) mile time, and a total time of (19:20), and Sophomore Colt Pierce finished the race in a time of (19:55).
The Emory & Henry Cross country team will be back in action to compete for their titles again at the Greensboro Annual Cross Country meet. The meet will take place on September 30th, in Greensboro, NC. Hopefully, the Wasps can break some more personal record and school records
