Emory & Henry’s women’s tennis team faced Roanoke College for their second ODAC matchup of the season on Saturday, March 25. The Wasps took a 7-2 defeat. At one doubles, sophomore Liz Graham and senior Savanna Summers fell 8-4 to begin the day.
At two doubles, senior Lauren Riner and junior Kala Curtis also fell to their opponents 8-1. The first victory of the day for the Wasps came at the three doubles with sophomore Kaitlyn Sheaves and Katie Meade winning 8-3. To begin singles, Riner lost 6-2 and 6-3.=
Graham picked up the second and last win of the day at two doubles, with a 7-6, 7-5 win. At three singles, Summers took her opponent to three sets but fell short 2-6, 6-0, and 10-8.
At four singles, Meade lost 6-3 and 6-4. Sheaves also lost at five singles 6-3 and 6-1. At six singles, Curtis was defeated 6-3 and 7-5.
The Wasps were hopeful for their Sunday match on March 26 but ended up falling 5-1 to Randolph College, in their third ODAC matchup of the season. Graham and Summers were hoping to start the day off right at one doubles, but were defeated 8-5. At two doubles, Riner and Curtis lost 8-1. Sheaves and Meade picked up their second victory of the weekend at three doubles and the only win of the day for the Wasps, winning 8-6.
The Wasps went 0-3 in singles. Riner fell at one singles 6-1 and 6-2. Graham lost at two singles 6-0 and 6-4. At three singles, Summers was also defeated 6-3 and 6-1.
