The Emory & Henry’s women’s tennis team faced three days straight of competition, from March 17-19, while other students were enjoying their spring break.
On the 17, the Wasps unfortunately fell to LaGrange College with a final score of 6-3. In doubles, at the one spot, Seniors Lauren Riner and Savanna Summers lost 8-4. In one singles, Riner was defeated at 6-2 and 7-5. Picking up the first victory at the two seed, Sophomore Liz Graham won 6-1 and 7-6. Summers also won at her three spot 7-6 and 6-3.
At five singles, Meade fought a hard battle going into a third set. She ended up falling 4-6, 6-2, and 10-7. At six singles, Sheaves ended the day for the Wasps with a win at 6-0 and 6-1.
On the 18, the Wasps lost to Covenant College with a final score of 7-2. All 3 doubles teams lost. Graham struggled at two singles losing 7-5 and 6-0. At three singles, Summers fell 6-4 and 7-5. Sophomore Katie Meade and Sheaves finished strong for the Wasps both picking up the only two wins for the day. Meade went into yet another three set match, this time winning 6-4, 3-6, and 10-7. Sheaves finished the Wasps off with a 7-6 and 6-2 win at six singles.
On Sunday the 19, the Wasps shut out Greensboro College, winning 9-0.
