Softballs Win Streak is Snapped

The Emory & Henry college softball team stayed busy over spring break. The Lady Wasps played eight games over the break and saw one of its own be named ODAC Softball Player of the Week. E&H played Salem College on March 10, sweeping them in two games. The Wasps won the first game 9-8 and earned a shutout in the second game, winning 7-0.

Over the spring break period, the Wasps traveled to Florida for a total of six games over a three-day period. On Monday, March 13, the Wasps traveled to Titusville, Florida, where they played the University of the Cumberlands in a two-game series. They swept the school from Kentucky, taking game one 3-0 and game two 4-2. E&H then traveled inland to Minneola, Florida, and played two more games on Tuesday, March 14.

The Wasps played two games against two different opponents. In game one, the Wasps took on Framingham State University and defeated them 10-2 in six innings. The Wasps then fell to Washington University in St. Louis by a score of 15-5. Tuesday’s split gave the Wasps their first loss of the Florida trip to accompany their three wins going into the last day of the Space Coast Spring Training. The Wasps then traveled back to Titusville, Florida, for their last day of competition. The Wasps took on the Bobcats of St. Thomas, winning both of their games. The Wasps dominated game one, winning 12-0 in five innings. E&H then won a tough second game, scoring the only run of the game. The Wasps left Florida and traveled back home having won five of their last six games before beginning ODAC play.
