Womens Tennis Wins 9-0

The Emory & Henry Wasps women’s tennis team picked up their second sweep of the season this past Sunday at home. They faced Ferrum College and came out on top with a 9-0 win.

To begin the match, the senior duo of Lauren Riner and Savanna Summers picked up the first victory at the one doubles, winning 8-6. Sophomore Liz Graham and senior Ana-Belen Gomez picked up the second win with a score or 8-4 at the two doubles. At three doubles, sophomores Kaiti Sheaves and Katie Meade swept their matchups, winning 8-0.

In singles, the one seed was a tough matchup. Riner and her opponent went into three sets. Riner came out on top with scores of 6-1, 4-6, and 10-7. Graham swept her opponent at the two singles with both sets being 6-0. Summers had the same outcome of two 6-0 sets at the three seed. Gomez faced her opponent at the four seed and came out on top with scores of 6-1 and 6-2. Meade picked up the third sweep for the Wasps in singles matchups at the five seed, winning two sets of 6-0 as well. Sheaves ended the day on a high note and earned the fourth and final sweep of the day at the six seed. The Wasps now look ahead to face Milligan College this coming Sunday.
