Scruff McDuff, or Scruff to his friends, is a cross between a Japanese Spitz and a Scotty Terrier. In reality, however, he bears no resemblance to either breed and has been described by many of his admirers as a “sawed-off Alsatian”.
My sister and I had been pining for a dog for years in the face of our parents’ staunch refusal. However, almost mystifyingly, they suddenly relented when our neighbor’s dog was involved in an illicit encounter behind the bushes at the park. The subsequent two and a half years have showed us that it is probably one of the best decisions they have ever made. In fact, one of the hardest things about studying abroad is being away from him for so long.
Although he likes to think of himself as a guard dog, he is more Scooby-Doo than Cerberus, and loves to spend his days cuddling, kissing and chasing a mini-rugby ball. His dislikes include, but are not limited to, baths, hairdryers, foreigners and the vacuum.
Having spent the last half-year on a diet, he is currently looking forward to flaunting his summer body on the mean streets of London…
