At the end of last semester, renovations on Kelly Library began, and just recently these renovations have been completed and students are now able to enjoy the new features.
These include an added office upstairs but the main focus is the the lobby of the library. The lobby is now equipped with many new couches, chairs, and desks.
Adam Alley, Circulation Assistant and employee of the Kelly Library for the past three years, said that the renovations began at the end of the last semester and continued through the summer.
The remodeled lobby of the library used to house reference books and computers which have been relocated to provide room for the new study section.
The Kelly Library certainly has a more modern look now. Ashlyn Hawkinson, one student sitting in the renovated lobby of the library said, “my favorite feature is the outlets built into the tops of the desks.”
In fact, much of the new furniture comes equipped with built-in outlets, making it possible for students to charge their laptops and cell-phones while they work. The renovations are also ideal for students working in groups or on projects.
Hawkinson also said “I am very grateful to be a part of a campus that offers such great places to study. I enjoy going to the library to focus and get my homework done.”
Thankfully, students can finally enjoy the long awaited renovations at the library, alongisde the other upgrades that have been completed in Van Dyke and across campus.
