Emory & Henry Women’s Swimming Rolls Over Ferrum on Saturday

The women’s swimming team dominated Ferrum on Saturday, Nov. 5. It was the Wasp’s first dual meet on the year as they look to remain in the top tier of the ODAC under new head coach, Cody Skinner.
E&H started off the meet with an uncontested victory in the 200 yard medley relay. Seniors Jessica Richardson and Michaela Nolte, as well as first-year Olivia Anson and junior Brianna Chessock swam a 1:55.09 in the event. Next, the Wasps would go one, two, and three in the 200 yard freestyle. Junior Holly Roth took the event with a time of 2:07 followed by seniors Jordan Greenburg and Lauren Blakely.
E&H’s dominance would continue in the 50 yard free style with a one-two finish. This time it was Jessica Richardson who would stop the watches first for E&H with a time of 25.64. Kia Hamilton would secure the second place finish. Richardson would go on to win the 50 yard backstroke as well.
Michaela Nolte would add another win to her impressive resume, winning the 100 yard individual medley. She would also add another victory in the 100 yard freestyle. Olivia Ansen would pick up yet another victory for the Wasps putting up an impressive time of 28.99 in the 50 yard butterfly. Holly Roth was fractions of a second behind Ansen in the event, finishing with a time of 29.28.
Lauren Blakely would cruise to a victory in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 6:29.05. To finish this impressive showing for the Wasps, Greenburg, Roth, Jones and Hamilton dominated in the 400 yard freestyle. This group put nearly 18 seconds between them and the rest of the field.
The Wasps won all ten events on the day and secured a 124-36 victory against the Panthers. The team will look to continue to build on their success when they take on Hollins University on Saturday Nov. 19 at 1 p.m.
