E&H WBB Fall’s Short Against ETSU

The women’s basketball team began their 2016-17 campaign as they traveled to Johnson City, TN., to take on the Buccaneers of East Tennessee State in a preseason game.
The Buccaneers played a good game, as they defeated the Wasps 84-39 in the exhibition game. The game was close after the first quarter, as ETSU led E&H 16-11 after the first ten minutes. However, the Bucs outscored the Wasps 20-7 in the 2nd quarter, and 23-4 in the third quarter.
The leading scorer for the Wasps was Senior Megan Jacoby, who had 12 points. The other Wasps who scored were first-year Peyton Williams who had 8 points, Sophomore Taylor Belevins who had 6 points, Junior Chloe Harris who had 3 points, Sophomore Laken Blackburn who had 4 points, first-year Kara Stafford who had 2 points, Sophomore Jada Penn who had 2 points, and Sophomore Tessa Johnston who had 2 points.
Jacoby, who led the Wasps in scoring, and also led the Wasps in rebounding, she grabbed 6. The other Wasp, who rebounded well, was Taylor Blevins with 5. The leading scorer in the game was Shamauria Bridges of ETSU, who had 17 points.
E&H will open their regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 15, as they will host Averett .University.
