Nolte Earns ODAC Swimmer of The Week

Emory & Henry’s swimming team travelled to Sewanee, TN in order to compete in the 16th Annual Sewanee Invitational swim meet during Halloween weekend. They ended with in the middle of the pack with a fourth place finish out of eight total teams. The Wasps faced tough competition during the two day meet. Out of 21 different event slates, the ladies picked up a total of 10 wins.
On Friday, E&H walked away with four wins for the first day of competition. Senior Michaela Nolte won the 50-yard breaststroke coming in at 31.07 as well as the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:01.09. Senior Jessica Richardson picked up another win beating out the competition in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of :28.18. Richardson, junior Brianna Chessock, freshman Olivia Anson, and Nolte picked up the first relay win for E&H with a total time of :48.01, which was 41 seconds faster than the rest of the field. Chessock later place third in the 50-breast and came in sixth for the 100-IM. Senior Jordan Greenburg place eighth in the 50-yard backstroke. The Wasps placed three girls in the 1650-yard freestyle. Richardson placed fourth, junior Holly Roth came in at sixth, and senior Lauren Blakely finished ninth.
On Saturday, E&H walked away with sixth more wins, finishing with a total of ten wins for the whole meet. Greenburg, Jones, first-yearww Savannah Scarbrough and senior Kia Hamilton started off with a fifth place finish for the Wasps in the 200-yard medley relay. Scarbrough then placed ninth place in the 400-yard individual medley. Nolte and Anson both swam in the 50-yard freestyle, earning the second and sixth spots respectively. Richardson picked up the first win on Saturday, swimming a 1:00.33 in the 100-yard backstroke, while Greenburg finished the same race in fifth place. Notle and Chessock picked up the first and second spots in the 100-yard breaststroke, Notle coming in at 1:08.09. Richardson picked up two more wins for E&H in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.75) and the 100-yard freestyle (:55.24). Roth came in seventh in the 200-freestyle while Anson finished fourth in the 100-freestyle. Nolte won the 200-breast with a time of 2:26.38 with Chessock finishing third and Scarbrough finishing ninth. Greenburg finished fourth in the 200-yard backstroke. Anson had a sixth place finish in the 100-yard butterfly and Chessock finished fifth in the 200-yard individual medley. E&H finished the meet winning the 200-yard freestyle relay with Richardson, Anson, Chessock, and Nolte.
E&H faces their next competition this Saturday at Ferrum College.
