Volleyball on Fire

Greensboro, NC- After playing in the Marymount Invitational last weekend, the E&H College Women’s Soccer team returned to Fred Selfe Stadium this week for a two-game home stand. On Sept 7th, for their home opener, the Lady Wasps welcomed the Lady Panthers from Ferrum College. Just over 17 minutes into the match, senior Emily Welch struck a shot from the top of the box that flew right over the goalkeeper. This goal was assisted by freshman Lexi DeMers. As the half progressed, both teams played well. Then, five minutes before halftime, the Lady Wasps took a 2-0 lead. Senior Allie Hooper blasted a shot from just outside of the box that flew into the goal right under the crossbar.

The Lady Wasps took a 2-0 lead going into the half. The Lady Panthers from Ferrum College came out revived in the second half. After controlling possession, freshman Payton Stuart put the ball in the back of the net. With the game now being 2-1 in the favor of E&H, both teams fought hard for the last 32 minutes of the match.

While the Lady Wasps were only to create two shots, Brevard netted two goals in both the first half and the second half. Junior goalkeeper Kayla Wright was busy all night long. Wright recorded three saves during her time in goal. Sophomore Kieran Liseski played the last 14 minutes of the game as the Wasp’s reserve keeper. The loss to Brevard College dropped the Lady Wasps’ overall record to 1-3.

The E&H College Women’s Soccer Team will return to the field on Tuesday, September 13 to face the Greensboro College Pride.
